Mission
JOB PURPOSE:
To lead the engineering and technical oversight of rolling stock systems, ensuring high reliability, safety, and efficiency through optimized maintenance strategies, technical analysis, and cross-functional coordination. This role supports continuous improvement initiatives and compliance with international standards, integrating emerging technologies to enhance asset performance.
Profile
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Safety Scope
• Ensure full compliance with all applicable railway safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards associated with rolling stock systems.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and failure mode analyses to proactively manage risks.
• Support emergency response planning and system restoration following incidents or failures.
• Collaborate with safety teams to maintain compliance with emergency systems, fire safety, and critical safety features.
• Ensure maintenance activities align with safety documentation and operational standards.
Maximo Scope
• Oversee and maintain asset data integrity within the EAM system (preferably IBM Maximo).
• Define and update maintenance intervals, repair authorizations, and change orders.
• Develop and validate maintenance documentation, including instructions and technical packages.
• Monitor rolling stock availability and reliability data to drive maintenance optimization.
• Determine spares and consumables requirements; define maintenance task durations and frequencies.
• Review and manage technical change requests, derogations, and trials.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and historical data to support fault investigations and resolution.
• Maintain accurate technical records and ensure documentation is current and accessible.
• Evaluate new suppliers and technologies to improve system performance and reliability.
Engineering & Technical Leadership
• Provide expert guidance on rolling stock systems including traction, braking, pneumatic, and auxiliary systems.
• Lead root cause analyses and investigations into failures affecting service delivery.
• Provide technical reports and support daily operational teams.
• Recommend system upgrades, retrofits, and integration of emerging technologies.
• Support the implementation of new technologies in rolling stock systems ensuring seamless system integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (signaling, depot, power supply, track) for aligned asset performance.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Fluent in English and Arabic, French is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE
• In-depth understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Maintenance strategy development and management.
• Technical documentation and document control systems.
• Familiarity with Enterprise Asset Management tools (IBM Maximo preferred).
EXPERIENCE
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in Rolling Stock engineering and/or maintenance.
• Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional initiatives and driving change.
• Experience in change management environments.
