Mission

JOB PURPOSE:

As part of the Engineering team, the RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all metro and LRT systems, subsystems, infrastructure, and assets comply with performance, reliability, and safety standards across their lifecycle. The role is essential in minimizing system downtime, enhancing operational safety, and ensuring full compliance with international railway standards and company requirements.

Profile

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

RAMS Planning & Strategy

Develop and implement comprehensive RAMS plans for metro and LRT systems, subsystems, and infrastructure assets.

Define and communicate RAMS requirements in collaboration with design, operations, and maintenance teams.

Contribute to establishing RAMS targets and performance indicators to support long-term asset reliability and safety goals.

Reliability & Availability Analysis

Conduct reliability predictions and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMEA/FMECA).

Monitor system performance and availability, analyzing trends to identify causes of downtime or reduced reliability.

Recommend technical and procedural improvements to enhance system uptime and reduce failures.

Maintainability Assessment

Evaluate maintenance requirements and design maintainability for new or modified assets.

Support maintenance optimization, spare parts planning, and corrective/preventive maintenance strategies.

Propose design modifications that enhance ease of maintenance and lifecycle cost efficiency.

Safety Engineering

Perform hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety analysis (HAZOP, HAZID) in collaboration with the Railway Safety Department.

Ensure full compliance with international railway safety standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129).

Support safety case preparation and verification of risk mitigation measures.

Verification & Validation

Participate in system testing, commissioning, and acceptance activities to validate RAMS requirements.

Analyze field data and simulation results to confirm compliance with reliability and safety objectives.

Provide technical input during design reviews and validation workshops.

Documentation & Reporting

Prepare detailed RAMS documentation including reports, safety cases, and technical records.

Manage the asset condition assessment process within the RAMS scope.

Interface with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, and internal stakeholders for RAMS submissions.

Utilize appropriate analytical tools, including AI-assisted platforms, to enhance RAMS evaluations and reporting accuracy.

Safety Responsibilities

Promote a positive safety culture within the workplace and attend any safety-related meetings or briefings as required within the job role.

Comply with the requirements of RDMC RQHSE Policy and Safety Management System.

Be mindful that Safety, Security, and Environmental protection are everyone’s responsibility.

All staff members are accountable for reporting and intervening in any Safety, Security, or Environmental violations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent).

Knowledge

In-depth knowledge of metro and rail systems (rolling stock, signaling, SCADA, power supply, and communications).

Proficiency with CMMS platforms (e.g., IBM Maximo), fault diagnostics, and analytical reporting tools.

Strong understanding of maintenance and safety procedures, work permits, and emergency response protocols.

Experience

3–5 years of proven experience in RAMS engineering, preferably within metro, LRT, or transportation projects.

DESIRED BEHAVIORS & EXPERIENCES

Familiarity with international railway safety standards (IEC, EN 5012x, or equivalent).

Certification in reliability engineering (e.g., CMRP or equivalent) is an advantage.

Experience using RAMS software tools (Isograph, ReliaSoft, RAM Commander, or similar).

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration within cross-functional technical teams.

Experience with metro system components (rolling stock, signaling, power, or infrastructure) is considered a plus.
