JOB PURPOSE: 

To perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities on Depot Equipment assets to ensure their safe, reliable, and efficient operation. The role is responsible for executing maintenance tasks, diagnosing faults, supporting operational continuity, and maintaining compliance with railway safety and maintenance standards while contributing to continuous improvement and team collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES 

Maintenance Execution

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities on Depot Equipment in accordance with manufacturer manuals, maintenance procedures, and operational instructions.

• Execute repairs, component replacements, adjustments, and reassembly activities within established timeframes.

• Ensure maintenance activities are completed according to technical standards, quality requirements, and operational procedures.

• Support the operation and maintenance of Depot Equipment to ensure asset reliability and operational availability.

• Follow approved work methods and standard operating procedures during maintenance activities.

Fault Diagnosis & Troubleshooting

• Diagnose equipment faults using technical documentation, manuals, drawings, and diagnostic tools.

• Conduct functional testing, verification, and system resets following maintenance or repair activities.

• Support root cause analysis activities by collecting relevant technical data and reporting findings.

• Escalate critical faults, technical constraints, and operational risks to the appropriate authority in a timely manner.

• Assist in identifying recurring equipment issues and support corrective improvement initiatives.

Documentation & Traceability

• Ensure accurate and complete traceability of all maintenance activities through proper documentation and system updates.

• Record maintenance activities, fault details, corrective actions, and inspection results within maintenance management systems such as Maximo.

• Maintain accurate digital and physical maintenance records in accordance with company procedures.

• Provide feedback regarding recurring faults, operational issues, and maintenance process improvements.

Quality Control & Worksite Management

• Monitor the availability and condition of tools, spare parts, consumables, and maintenance equipment.

• Ensure work areas are organized, clean, and compliant with workplace safety and housekeeping standards.

• Support efficient maintenance execution through proper material handling and worksite preparation.

• Ensure maintenance quality standards are consistently achieved during all maintenance activities.

Safety & Compliance

• Strictly comply with occupational health and safety requirements, railway safety regulations, LOTO procedures, PPE requirements, and safe work instructions.

• Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses immediately.

• Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, safety briefings, and emergency drills.

• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all company safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

• Maintain awareness of operational risks and contribute to safe maintenance practices.

Communication & Team Collaboration

• Coordinate effectively with supervisors, engineers, technicians, and peers to support maintenance plans and operational priorities.

• Share technical knowledge and support the development of junior technicians, trainees, and new team members.

• Maintain effective communication within the team regarding work progress, technical issues, and operational updates.

• Support teamwork and collaboration to ensure efficient maintenance execution and operational continuity.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Qualification

• Diploma in Electrical Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, or a related technical field.

Knowledge

• Good knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electronic systems.

• Understanding of maintenance principles and industrial maintenance practices.

• Basic troubleshooting and fault diagnosis techniques.

• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, drawings, and schematics.

• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and railway safety requirements.

• Familiarity with measuring instruments and maintenance tools.

• Basic knowledge of Depot Equipment within railway or industrial environments.

• Welding knowledge or welding certification is considered an advantage.

• Familiarity with maintenance management systems such as Maximo is preferred.

• Basic proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in industrial or technical maintenance environments.

• Experience within the railway industry is preferred.

• Experience using asset management or maintenance management systems is considered an advantage.
