Mission

Job Purpose: 

The ELV Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the efficient operation of electric low-voltage systems across the Cairo Metro Line 3 depots and stations. This includes overseeing civil and arrangement systems, from installation to end-of-life maintenance, ensuring safety compliance, and minimizing operational downtime. The technician must work autonomously and responsibly, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.

Profile

Responsibilities/Duties 

Maintenance Activities

Conduct regular inspections on electric low-voltage assets (panels, cables, lighting fixtures, sockets, etc.) to evaluate their condition and identify maintenance needs.

Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on electric low voltage systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.

Ensure maintenance tools and equipment are in optimal working conditions.

Replacement of Worn Parts: Replace worn-out or damaged parts during routine maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime.

Provide close supervision and leadership to service providers, ensuring adherence to the preventive maintenance (PM) plan.

Troubleshooting & Repair

Execute repairs on damaged electric low-voltage assets (panels, cables, lighting fixtures, sockets, lamp posts, etc.) using appropriate tools and equipment.

Address emergency repair needs promptly and efficiently to minimize service disruptions.

Corrective Maintenance: Conduct corrective maintenance, swiftly identifying and resolving system malfunctions.

Assist in the rehabilitation of existing railway assets to extend their lifespan and enhance safety.

Perform all necessary installations, inspections, tests, and maintenance as required.

Collaboration & Coordination

Work closely with operations, maintenance teams, and other technicians to ensure smooth execution of maintenance tasks and projects.

Supervise contractors and external service providers for specialized maintenance activities.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs.

Log Maintenance Functions: Keep daily logs detailing maintenance functions performed.

Assist in preparing detailed reports on the condition of railway infrastructure and provide recommendations for future maintenance or upgrades.

Field Survey & Assessments

Assist in conducting field surveys and assessments to gather data for engineering studies or project planning.

Contribute insights into existing infrastructure conditions to support the implementation of new projects.

Inspection & Testing

Conduct inspections to detect potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Test operational systems and emergency features to ensure proper functionality.

Other Duties

Undertake any other tasks as assigned.

Flexibility to work after hours when required.

Safety

Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to relevant safety standards and regulations.

Participate in safety audits and assist in developing safety protocols for civil maintenance tasks.

Ensure that all tasks comply with established safety standards.

Participate in safety audits and contribute to safety improvement initiatives.

Maximo

Utilize and manage Maximo for tracking maintenance activities, inspections, and asset management.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. 

Proficiency in Arabic is essential; good proficiency in English (speaking and reading) is a plus. 

Strong vision and normal color perception. 

Ability to write simple technical reports. 

Ability to work on a shift basis. 

Willingness to work at various locations across Line 3 stations and depots.

Knowledge:

General technical knowledge of electric low voltage systems.

Familiarity with maintenance processes and methods.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Optional: Knowledge of railway systems.

Familiarity with EAM systems, such as Maximo.

Basic understanding of mechanical and other systems.

Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.

Familiarity with tools, appliances, and common devices.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as an Electric Low Voltage Technician.

Experience in site supervision.

Experience in the railway industry is a plus.
