Mission
JOB PURPOSE
The Signaling Technician is responsible for the routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of signaling systems in Cairo Metro Line 3, including both depot workshops (Abassia and Salam) and station assets. This role involves working with various signaling components such as signal beacons, point machines, track circuits, interlocking systems, and ATC onboard/wayside equipment. The technician will also support installation and calibration activities, perform warranty and emergency repairs, and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards. A proactive, detail-oriented approach and the ability to work independently or in a team are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for all types of signaling systems and associated components.
• Inspect and maintain trackside and onboard signaling equipment, ensuring optimal operation and adherence to standards.
• Support signaling engineers and supervisors in conducting maintenance and diagnostics.
• Respond promptly to equipment failures, replacing or repairing defective components efficiently.
System Calibration & Diagnostics
• Conduct routine calibration, adjustments, and tuning of signaling components such as signal modules, point machines, ATC equipment, and interlocking devices.
• Use electrical and electronic testing tools to identify and resolve faults.
• Monitor and assess equipment health and recommend improvements.
Workplace & Safety Compliance
• Maintain tools and equipment in working condition and ensure the cleanliness and safety of the work area.
• Ensure all work complies with RDMC safety protocols, health regulations, and environmental standards.
• Report hazards and incidents, and participate in safety audits and corrective actions.
Reporting & Documentation
• Maintain accurate records and logs of maintenance activities, inspections, faults, and repairs.
• Submit reports on technical findings and system status.
• Assist in budget tracking related to materials or parts consumption.
Stakeholder Coordination
• Collaborate with other departments, vendors, and contractors during system interventions or upgrades.
• Join field teams during inspections and system handovers as required.
Emergency & After-Hours Support
• Provide emergency repair support outside standard working hours as needed.
• Participate in on-call rotation and ensure rapid fault response during breakdowns or critical incidents.
Other Duties
• Undertake additional technical tasks or assignments as directed by the Head of Signaling or designated supervisor.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in metro/railway signaling, testing & commissioning, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in signaling systems maintenance or electrical/electronic systems.
• Excellent eyesight and normal color vision (mandatory for signaling work).
• Skilled in using electronic testing tools and PC-based maintenance software.
• Capable of writing technical reports, preparing documentation, and following technical procedures.
• Fluent in English and Arabic, French is a plus.
Knowledge
• Strong understanding of signaling principles and components within metro or rail systems.
• Familiarity with preventive and corrective maintenance methodologies.
• Basic understanding of electrical, electronic, and control systems.
Experience
• 3-5 years of experience in electrical/electronic maintenance, preferably in railway or metro signaling systems.
• Hands-on experience with signaling/ATC equipment installation, testing, or commissioning is highly desirable.
