Mission
Job Purpose:
The Signaling Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and performance of signaling systems, ensuring their efficiency and safety. This role involves planning and executing maintenance tasks, troubleshooting signaling systems, conducting inspections, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The engineer is also responsible for providing technical support, reporting, and assisting with budget inputs.

Responsibilities/Duties
Maintenance Scheduling and Resource Allocation:
• Prepare detailed maintenance schedules, including planning resources such as staff, spare parts, and consumables.
• Ensure timely and effective execution of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
Task Assignment and Supervision:
• Assist in assigning daily maintenance tasks to the team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to specifications.
• Conduct inspections of completed tasks to verify quality, adherence to safety regulations, and compliance with work orders regulations.
System Monitoring and Analysis:
• Monitor and analyze the behavior and operating conditions of signaling assets, identifying anomalies or damage.
• Report any findings related to system performance and suggest corrective actions when necessary.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
• Diagnoses and troubleshoot issues with signaling systems and equipment.
• Provide hands-on support for the repair and replacement of faulty components, ensuring systems return to full functionality.
Safety and Compliance:
• Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in strict compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Participate in safety audits and inspections to identify any potential risks associated with signaling assets.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance tasks, inspections, repairs, and resources used.
• Generate regular reports on maintenance activities, team performance, and asset conditions for review by management.
Stock and Equipment Management:
• Monitor stock levels of spare parts and consumables, ensuring inventory is adequately stocked and that tools are properly calibrated.
• Report any shortages or equipment issues to his manager to ensure uninterrupted maintenance operations.
Technical Support and Investigation:
• Provide technical support and advice during investigations of signaling system malfunctions.
• Assist in identifying root causes of failures and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
• Assist in identifying areas for improvement in maintenance processes and systems.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of more efficient maintenance strategies.
Training and Development:
• Assist in training junior engineers and technicians in best practices, troubleshooting methods, and safety protocols.
• Participate in ongoing development to stay current with industry trends and advancements in signaling technology.
• Liaise with stakeholders to provide updates on maintenance work and system status.
• Provide technical explanations regarding the functionality of signaling systems when necessary.
Emergency Response:
• Respond promptly to signaling system failures and emergencies, ensuring rapid troubleshooting and resolution.
• Assist with emergency repairs and coordinate with the team to restore system functionality as quickly as possible.
Asset Performance Evaluation:
• Conduct regular performance evaluations of signaling equipment, ensuring systems are operating efficiently.
• Identify and report potential risks or maintenance needs based on system performance metrics.
Participate in Root Cause Analysis:
• Assist in root cause analysis of significant equipment failures and provide technical insights for corrective measures.
Maximo System Management
• Manage the PM and CM work orders, and maintenance histories within Maximo, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with organizational standards.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
Knowledge:
• Expertise in signaling systems and maintenance practices.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for signaling and electrical systems.
• Familiarity with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems, such as Maximo.
Experience:
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the railway industry, with at least 3 years focusing on signaling systems.
